I hope it brings you as much joy and comfort as it did to me back then. Upon finishing it and emailing it to my editor, I never imagined that my publisher would want to release it as anything more than an ebook, so I'm thrilled that it will be coming to you in physical form.

At the time I was badly struggling with depression, and used Mysteries as an escape and exercise to help rebuild some confidence in my writing. Personally I love Sorcery's open ending and hadn't planned to revisit the story-but as you can probably guess by the novella's premise, Covid isolation gave me other ideas. Those of you who like Sorcery's ending just the way it is, particularly the ambiguity of the final paragraph, can regard this novella as something akin to author written fanfiction.

This story is perfect for anyone who would like to spend more time with Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and Silas, and see what their daily life is like without any life-threatening* plots looming overhead… though Nathaniel would argue that hosting the Midwinter Ball does, indeed, have the potential to be life-threatening, and is certainly a plot against him. It isn't a full length sequel (or a true sequel at all, I would argue), but rather a bonus novella with a lighthearted mystery/romance plot. Hi, everyone- I'm so excited that ARCs of Mysteries of Thorn Manor are soon to be out in the world! Mysteries takes place about two months after Sorcery's epilogue and is a cozy, romantic comfort read that reveals previously untold secrets about the world and characters. But when it becomes clear that the house, influenced by the magic of Nathaniel's ancestors, requires a price for its obedience, Elisabeth and Nathaniel will have to lean on their connection like never before to set things right. Not an easy task when the house is filled with unexpected secrets, and all Elisabeth can think about is kissing Nathaniel in peace. With no access to the outside world, Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and Silas - along with their new maid Mercy - will have to work together to discover the source of the magic behind the malfunctioning wards before they're due to host the city's Midwinter Ball. Surely it must be a coincidence that this happened just as Nathaniel and Elisabeth started getting closer to one another. But something strange is afoot at Thorn Manor: the estate's wards, which are meant to keep their home safe, are acting up and forcibly trapping the Manor's occupants inside.

Now that their demon companion Silas has returned, so has scrutiny from nosy reporters hungry for gossip about the city's most powerful sorcerer and the librarian who stole his heart. In this sequel novella to Sorcery of Thorns, Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and Silas must unravel the magical trap keeping them inside Thorn Manor in time for their Midwinter Ball!Įlisabeth Scrivener is finally settling into her new life with sorcerer Nathaniel Thorn.
